SEDA’s activities focus on six main areas:

Professional Development

SEDA offers a range of professional development opportunities to individuals and institutions; including the Senior Fellowship, Fellowship and Associate Fellowship schemes, courses in supporting and leading educational change and the Professional Development Framework (PDF).

Conferences and Events

SEDA organises and runs two residential conferences each year, a Writing Retreat and occasional one-day events.

Publications

SEDA publishes two series and a journal with Routledge: the long-running Staff and Educational Development Series, a new series of shortform books, SEDA Focus and the journal Innovations in Education and Teaching International. SEDA also publishes a quarterly magazine, Educational Developments.

Research

SEDA’s Scholarship and Research Committee promotes research, scholarship and evaluation in staff and educational development as a means of bringing about understanding of, and further improvements in, our practices.

Membership Services

SEDA members benefit from a range of services, including regular communications, copies of SEDA publications, eligibility to apply for the SEDA Research and Development Grants as well as discounts on publications.

Projects

With its strong commitment to partnerships, SEDA is always open to collaborations which can advance its purposes. Over the years, SEDA has either led or been a partner in a variety of projects which have contributed to the improvement of teaching and learning.
