SEDA Fellowships Annual CPD Event

13 November 2013

Location: Mercure Bristol Holland House Hotel

Open to: Holders of SFSEDA, FSEDA and AFSEDA, and registrants

Our own CPD is an important aspect of our work as developers, and we aim to include in these annual SEDA Fellowship events opportunities for discussion, reflection, and exploring new ideas.  All Fellowship holders and registrants are very welcome.

Guest speaker: Professor Monica McLean, School of Education, University of Nottingham

Monica will be sharing her findings, Pedagogic Quality and Inequality in University First Degrees, a longitudinal ESRC-funded investigation of sociology and related social science degree courses in four universities (2008-2012, co-investigators Andrea Abbas, University of Lincoln and Paul Ashwin, Lancaster University). The project questioned the assumption that teaching and learning are self-evidently better in higher status universities; sought to develop a fair and expansive definition of the quality of teaching and learning; and, explored the value of sociology-related university education for individuals and society.

For more information, see the project website:

The event will commence at 18.30 with a buffet supper at approximately 20.00.

The event is free for all Fellowship holders and registrants and £30.00 for others. Please book for the event via the booking form for the 18th Annual SEDA Conference.

We look forward to seeing your there.

Professor Shân Wareing (SFSEDA), SEDA Fellowships Co-ordinator
