SEDA Presents: Managing the metrics: what can academic developers do?

In November 2020, SEDA published ‘Our Days are Numbered: Metrics, managerialism and academic development’, bringing together literature, empirical data from educational developers across the sector, and case studies from experienced developers. The aim of the publication was to examine the effects, intended or otherwise, that the greater use of metrics like the TEF and NSS has had on the work of developers.

Following a brief reminder of the findings from the research, in each of these workshops we will hear from educational developers who contributed case studies to the publication. They will share with us what their strategies have been in making the most of metrics in their institutions. We will learn how developers on the ground are moving beyond coping with the demands of metrification, to adopting more constructive approaches to data.

These workshops should give you practical ideas for approaching metrics constructively in the future, and for thinking about how to implement a range of approaches in your own context.

You will have the option to buy a copy of Our Days Are Numbered: Metrics, Managerialism, and Academic Development alongside your ticket to the workshops.

Delegates can sign up for either one or both of the sessions
