UK Professional Standards Framework for Teaching and Supporting Learning: from PG certs to provision at all levels
Tuesday April 24th 2012 10am – 4pm
Birkbeck University, London
Most universities and HE colleges provide Post Graduate Certificates or equivalent courses for staff new to HE teaching. The review of the UKPSF provides an opportunity to develop more comprehensive institutionally focused provision for reward and recognition for those who teach and support learning at all levels across the institution from part time lecturers to those who teach overseas to experienced academics and those in senior leadership positions. This event will share expertise and explore models of provision and HR processes for developing and rewarding across the whole range. It will particularly examine:
· engagement with experienced colleagues and those teaching off-site· building on our knowledge of what works in academic staff development· strategic approaches to reward and recognition· possible tensions between standards, processes, development and academic roles· using the HE Academy Fellowship routes and SEDA PDF
Discussions and presentations will be informed by both research and experience, particularly from those HEI’s which have developed a breadth of provision beyond SD2. Dr Dilly Fung from University of Exeter, Dr Sally Bradley from Sheffield Hallam University and Jo Peat University of Roehampton have agreed to present. The HE Academy have also been invited.
Workshop Facilitator Liz Shrives SEDA Executive and HEA Accreditor
