SEDAtalk Series 1 Episode 3: Generative AI – the student experience
Monday, 2nd December 2024 (contact office@seda.ac.uk for the link)
Please join us for the third episode of SEDAtalk, Season 1. In this season, we are exploring applications and implications of GenerativeAI (GenAI) as this new technology affects Higher Education now and for the foreseeable future. All sessions are recorded and you can find the first two episodes at https://www.seda.ac.uk/events/past-events/
In this third episode, we will explore the impact of GenAI on our students and what this can mean for educational development and change. Sue Beckingham and Peter Hartley are your hosts and guest contributors are two authors from the SEDA/Routledge publication on GenerativeAI in Higher Education (see details below). James Bedford and colleagues contributed their chapter on how GenAI has helped their students who have English as a second language. Tim Young and colleagues have been using AI text-to-image generation to help students in medical education. We will also briefly comment on a couple of technical and other developments which are likely to have important implications for the ways we use GenAI across HE and FE.
The second ‘season’ of SEDAtalk will start in 2025 with a new theme and hosts. If you would like to be involved and/or have suggestions on major themes that are becoming especially important for educational development and change, please contact Sue or Peter or office@seda.ac.uk.
You can find further details of the SEDA/Routledge Focus book – Using Generative AI Effectively in Higher Education: Sustainable and Ethical Practices for Learning. Teaching and Assessment
