SEDAtalk Series 1 Episode 4: Has the ‘age of AI’ just begun?
Monday, 3 February, 9.30-10am UK time (contact office@seda.ac.uk for the link)
The last week or so has seen announcements and developments in the field of AI which will have major implications for all of us, including:
~ The UK government’s agreement to 50 commitments which are designed to turn the UK into an AI ‘superpower’
~ The commitment by the US government to invest 500 billion dollars in order to make the USA the ‘dominant force’ in AI development and applications
There have also been some interesting developments announced by companies including Google and Microsoft, both technical and financial, which will have implications for access and the growing digital divides we have seen.
SEDAtalk returns to debate what all this means for education and, in particular, for educational development.
We invite everyone to join the debate, kicking off with the next edition of SEDAtalk on Monday 3rd February where our panel (chaired by Sue Beckingham and Peter Hartley) will focus on:
~ what these investment announcements might actually mean?
~ what are the likely developments in applications and access to GenAI across Higher Education?
~ what are the implications (both short and long-term) for educational development and for educational developers?
