Alison Purvisis the Associate Dean Learning, Teaching and Student Success in the College of Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences at Sheffield Hallam University. With over 25 years of higher education experience, Alison is recognised as a Senior Fellow of the Staff and Educational Development Association (SFSESA) and a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (PFHEA).
Alison’s research interests include higher education practice and leadership, digitally enhanced learning, inclusive practice, physiology of exercise, and public health. Alison is a senior editor at diamond open access Journal of University Teaching and Learning Practice (JUTLP) and a founding director at the Open Access Publishing Association (OAPA). She is passionate about open access publishing where the academic community support each other to publish quality articles, challenging the predominant for-profit model of publishing.
Alison has supervised a range of doctoral students, including PhDs and Professional Doctorates, through to successful completion. She is keen to support all colleagues to find their confidence in scholarship and research of both their disciplines and their practices in teaching, learning and educational development.
