Charles Buckley
University of Liverpool

Charles works at the University of Liverpool as a Senior Academic Developer supporting colleagues across the institution with their scholarship and pedagogic practice. He is the University Teaching Excellence Award Lead; Editor-in-Chief of Developing Academic Practice, the University’s learning and teaching journal; Chair of the Professional Services Ethics Committee; Lead for the Degree Standards Project for external examining and Director of the MA in Academic Practice. Charles is a member of SEDA’s Research and Scholarship Committee, Associate Editor with Higher Education Pedagogies, on the editorial board of Innovations in Education and Teaching International as well as the International Journal of Management and Applied Research.

Charles is a Principal Fellow 2014 and National Teaching Fellow 2012 with Advance HE and finalist in the Global Academic Development Good Practice Awards 2021. He is a Visiting Professor at the University of Bolton, External Adviser at the University of Manchester and Visiting Fellow at Northumbria University. His research interests are varied and include: lecturer identities and engagement with CPD; grounded theory and the use of diagramming in research; visual representation in learning and teaching and writing anxiety amongst PhD students.
