Laura is a Senior Academic Developer at the University of Liverpool. She leads on the ULTRA programme, the institutional Advance HE-accredited CPD professional recognition scheme. Her role is to oversee the operation of the scheme and support the development of Mentors and Reviewers. She also teaches on the Foundations in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (FLTHE) for colleagues new to teaching in HE and is on the supervision team for the MA in Academic Practice. She is also jointly responsible for the Academy Developing Practice Podcast series, about sharing personal development stories with colleagues in the sector.
Laura has an interest in action research and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). She has supported colleagues to undertake SoTL projects and has conducted research on the efficacy of such support mechanisms and the impact of SoTL at the level of the student, the individual practitioner and the institution.
